Into The Free by Julie Cantrell
Recently I was asked to photograph Oxonian Julie Cantrell, to accompany a front page feature on her first novel, Into The Free.
My editor initially felt that I should take the photo shoot to Rowan Oak (Faulkner’s house) or somewhere recognizable on the Square, but once I learned that Julie and her husband also run Valley House Farms , I immediately knew that taking the pictures there would be more representative of who she is, which is a kind-hearted, down-to-earth, animal-loving teacher, mother, wife and writer.
Thank you to Julie for welcoming us into your beautiful home, showing us around the farm, and for being such a fun and genuine person to photograph. I can’t wait to read the copy you so kindly gave me!
P.S. If you’re interested in WWOOFing, the Cantrells will be looking for a volunteer sometime next year wherein you work on their organic farm in exchange for housing. Very cool!

Beautiful shots.
Thanks so much! Julie is a beautiful person, inside & out!
Hi,
Very nice photos, I especially like the one with the horse, and the last one, I feel the love for the animals definitely comes out in these 2 photos.
